Open “%windows\inf\SYSOC.INF” with notepad. Any line containing “hide” is an application which is not shown in the Add/Remove Programs.
For Example to remove WIndows Messenger:
Open SYSOC.INF with Notepad and locate the line that reads as follows:
msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7
Remove “hide” from the end of the line and save the file.
You can now use the Add/Remove Programs icon in the Control Panel to access the Add/Remove Windows Component option to remove Windows Messenger.
